“Quiel” forecast to intensify into typhoon within 24 hours

(Eagle News)–“Quiel” is forecast to intensify into a typhoon in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

According to PAGASA, the weather disturbance, however, is less likely to make landfall in any part of the country, and will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility between tonight and tomorrow morning.

The center of “Quiel” was last spotted 430 kilometers west of Coron, Palawan, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 110 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph.

It is moving southwest at 10 kph.

Between today and tomorrow morning, moderate with occasional heavy rains will still be experienced over Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Apayao and Ilocos Norte.

Light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains will affect Mindoro Provinces, Palawan and Western Visayas.
