Commuters to get free MRT-3 rides on Rizal Day

(Eagle News)—Commuters can expect free Metro Rail Transit 3 rides on Sunday, Dec. 30. In a Twitter post, the MRT-3 management said the free rides from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on that day were to  mark the 122nd death anniversary of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal, or Rizal Day. Several MRT3 passengers unloaded after train experiences technical problem

(Eagle News) — Several passengers of the Metro Rail Transit 3 were unloaded on Thursday after a train experienced a technical problem. The Department of Transportation said in a tweet that the passengers had to get off Quezon Ave. at 5:37 a.m. The DOTr said the train that experienced the problem was removed without replacement and a cancellation of loops and insertion were made. The MRT management apologized for the inconvenience.    

Roque: New cases to be filed vs then-DOTC officials for MRT-3 mess

(Eagle News) — Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on Tuesday said cases will be filed against officials of the then-Department of Transportation and Communications for the Metro Rail Transit-3 mess. Roque said President Rodrigo Duterte himself instructed Solicitor General Jose Calida to  pursue the cases in Monday’s Cabinet meeting. Passengers unloaded at MRT 3 station following train “technical problem”

(Eagle News) — Passengers were unloaded at a Metro Rail Transit 3 station after a train experienced a “technical problem” on Thursday morning. In a tweet, the MRT 3 said the passengers had to get off at the Santolan Annapolis station on the southbound lane at 9:21 a.m. The train was removed, and was not replaced, the MRT 3 said. The management apologized for the inconvenience.  

MRT 3 unloads passengers following train electrical failure due to “worn-out sub-components”

(Eagle News) — Over 500 passengers were unloaded from the Metro Rail Transit 3 early Wednesday after it experienced another electrical failure. In an advisory, the MRT3 said the 620 passengers got off at the Shaw Boulevard Station in Mandaluyong following the incident  at 5:37 a.m. The  MRT management said the electrical failure was caused by “worn-out electrical sub-components.” The passengers were able to ride the next train that arrived after three minutes. https://youtu.be/IFIMiktWQTQ  

Sumitomo Corp. back as MRT-3 maintenance provider: report

(Eagle News) —  Japanese company Sumitomo Corp. is back as maintenance provider of the Metro Rail Transit 3.
