(Eagle News)—-The Chinese woman  who was seen throwing “taho” at a police officer who refused to let her inside a Metro Rail Transit station where food and drinks and recently certain liquids are not allowed is facing charges.

Charges for direct assault, disobedience to an agent of person in authority and unjust vexation are set to be filed against Jiale Zhang, 42, before the Mandaluyong Prosecutors Office.

According to the MRT-3 management, Jiale was about to enter the station but she was told by those manning the baggage checking area to consume the taho first.

Jiale refused, prompting P01 William Cristobal to step in.

As the police officer was explaining the MRT-3 policy, and a recent policy banning liquids inside the trains, Jiale threw the taho at him.

She was subsequently brought to a police detachment nearby, where she apologized.

“The DOTr-MRT3 management would like to stress that the tighter security measures being implemented inside our trains and stations mean no harm to our passengers. We are being cautious since we put in our topmost priorities the safety and security of our passengers and personnel following attacks in Mindanao,” the MRT said, apparently referring to  the twin blasts in Jolo, Sulu that killed at least 23.

The MRT added that even before the recent ban on certain liquids in trains, the consumption of food and drinks was already disallowed in trains as this can cause “inconvenience, accidents and delay in our operations.”

“Again the DOTR MRT3 would like to ask the riding public for full cooperation and deeper understanding as we intensify our security measures,” the MRT said.
