In a statement, the DFA said the Philippine Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, which has jurisdiction over Cameroon, is checking the report and has been instructed to make representations with the authorities. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 4 kilometers northwest of Cuenca at 2:26 a.m. Depth of focus was 28 kilometers.
