(Eagle News)–A 3.3-magnitude earthquake struck Leyte on Saturday, Sept. 7. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 12 kilometers southwest of Burauen at 1:14 p.m. The following intensities were felt: Intensity III – Burauen & Albuera, Leyte Intensity II – Baybay City, Leyte No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.  

2 convicts in Chiong sisters rape-slay surrender

(Eagle News)–Two of the three convicts in the Chiong sisters rape-slay who were released under the Good Conduct Time Allowance Law have surrendered. Ariel Balansag and Alberto Caño are reportedly already under custody of the Bureau of Corrections. The third, Josman Aznar, has yet to surrender. (Eagle News)–A 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck Biliran on Saturday, Sept. 7. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 4 kilometers southeast of Naval at 9:51 a.m. Depth of focus of the quake was 7 kilometers.
