MRT-3, LRT-2 to temporarily suspend operations starting Tuesday, Aug. 4

(Eagle News) — The Metro Rail Transit-3 and Light Rail Transit-2 will suspend operations starting Tuesday, Aug. 4.

In separate Tweets, the MRT-3 and LRT-2 said this was in line with President Rodrigo Duterte’s announcement on Monday night that Metro Manila would revert to a modified enhanced community quarantine starting Tuesday, Aug. 4.

The President made the announcement a day after the medical community called for Metro Manila’s return to an enhanced community quarantine, saying the two-week “time-out” would allow them to recover from exhaustion.

They added the period would also allow the government to recalibrate its response against COVID-19 amid the rising COVID-19 cases.

Under the MECQ, public transportation is not allowed.

Tricycles are allowed but subject to guidelines of the Department of the Interior and Local Government and local government units.

The MRT-3 said it would resume operations once Metro Manila returns to a general community quarantine.
