Gamboa tested negative for COVID-19, PNP spokesperson says

(Eagle News) — Philippine National Police Chief General Archie Gamboa has tested negative for the coronavirus disease 2019.

This is according to Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac, PNP spokesperson.

According to Banac, Gamboa had no meeting with Interior Secretary Eduardo Año, who revealed on Tuesday that he tested positive for the virus.

Año has gone on self-quarantine as a result.

“(PNP chief) is on duty, up and running the entire affairs of the PNP amid the Enhanced Community Quarantine,” Banac said.

He said the PNP chief was nonetheless observing social distancing protocols, and was using a face mask and gloves.

Before the Luzon-wide home quarantine, Gamboa was among those injured after the helicopter he was in crashed in Laguna.
