Former President Joseph Estrada on mechanical ventilation after pneumonia worsened, son says

(Eagle News) — Former President Joseph Estrada is now on mechanical ventilation after his pneumonia  worsened.

This is according to his son, former Jinggoy Estrada, who gave the update in a Facebook post on Tuesday, April 6.

According to the former senator, his father’s condition “suffered (the) setback” on Monday, April 5.

“Because of this and the resulting increase in oxygen requirement, his doctors decided to place him on mechanical ventilation,” he said.

“This was done to improve oxygen delivery as well as to prevent the tiring of his respiratory mechanism,” he added.

The former senator announced last Monday that his father tested positive for COVID-19.

The elder Estrada was moved to the intensive care unit on Sunday.
