MMDA: Number-coding scheme for private vehicles lifted from Dec. 24 to Jan. 2, 2019

At least three killed in QC fire

(Eagle News)–At least three people were killed in a fire that hit a merchandise store in Quezon City on Thursday, Dec. 20. Authorities have yet to identify those killed in the fire that started at 3 a.m. in Novaliches, but reports said they included a five-year-old boy,  an 80-year-old woman and a 40-year-old woman. The fire, which reached the third alarm, spread to adjacent structures. A fire-out was declared at 4:22 a.m.  

MMDA announces closure of some roads in M. Manila

Man killed after being hit by PNR train in Manila

(Eagle News)–A man was killed after a Philippine National Railways train ran over him on Wednesday, Dec. 19. PNR spokesperson Joseline Geronimo said in a radio interview the man crossed the railway in Pandacan, Manila past 6 a.m. as the train was moving. He was killed on the spot. Although the man has been identified, authorities preferred to withhold his name until after his family has been informed about what happened.  

MMDA: Motorists who illegally park in M. Manila to be slapped higher fines starting today

(Eagle News)–Drivers or owners who illegally park their vehicles in Metro Manila can now expect higher fines. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said starting today, Wednesday,  Dec. 19, vehicles parked illegally will now pay  P1,000 from the original fine of P200. Those with unattended vehicles, meanwhile, will  pay P2,000 from the original P500. From P150, those obstructing the road will now have to pay a fine of P1,000. Authorities said this was after Dominador Abrillo, 38, fired several shots using the gun he allegedly grabbed from Philippine National Railways guard Johnrel Jabonillo.
