Weather Update: Southwest Monsoon affecting Luzon and Western Visayas

QUEZON City, Philippines — As of 5:00 a.m. today, 15 August, the country’s weather bureau informed that strong to gale force southwesterly winds associated with the Southwest Monsoon is expected to affect the following areas:

THE WESTERN SEABOARD OF CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN LUZON
(Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Mindoro Occidental and Palawan)

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) also said that occasional rains will prevail over Western Visayas, rest of Central Luzon and the provinces of Laguna, Quezon, Rizal and Palawan.

Meanwhile, cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms is expected over the rest of Luzon and Visayas.

Monsoon rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides will be experienced over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas and Mindoro.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will be experienced over Mindanao.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail throughout the archipelago and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.
