VP Binay’s ratings improved, vows to work harder

With his ratings improving, Vice President Jejomar C. Binay said that he is more encouraged to “work harder” despite the controversies he is facing.

In the latest Social Weather Station (SWS) survey conducted last December 2015, Binay’s performance rating rose to 52 percent, while his trust rating to 49 percent, making him the second most trusted national government official after President Benigno S. Aquino III who got 53 and 55 percent in performance and trust rating respectively.

In another SWS survey last January 4 to 11, 2016, Binay topped in the presidential survey with 31 percent, followed by Senator Grace Poe with 24 percent, former DILG secretary Mar Roxas with 21 percent, Davao City mayor Rodrigo Duterte with 20 percent, and Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago with three percent.

According to his spokesperson, Atty. Rico Quicho, the Vice President was “humbled” by the recent surveys and it will “encourage him to work harder” despite the corruption charges and other controversies he is facing. Quicho added that the Vice President will continue to emphasize that the country “needs an experienced and competent leader to work for inclusive growth” in order to alleviate poverty.

Currently, Binay is linked to the anomalies in the construction of the overpriced Makati City Hall II building and other public works during his tenure as Makati City mayor and other corruption allegations.  Because of these controversies and the ongoing Senate investigations, Binay’s trust rating has plummeted last year.
