VP Binay resigns for Cabinet position

MANILA, Philippines, June 22 (Eagle News) — Vice President Jejomar “Jojo” C. Binay has tendered his resignation from President Benigno Aquino III’s Cabinet, his office confirmed Monday afternoon.

Head of the Office of Media Affairs of the Vice President, Joey Salgado said: “Vice President Jejomar C. Binay today tendered his irrevocable resignation from the Cabinet effective immediately.

The resignation letter was hand-carried by his daughter Makati Rep. Abigail Binay.

The resignation letter was addressed to the President and was received by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa around 3:55 pm at the Office of the Executive Secretary.

Before Binay’s resignation, he was also the chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), and presidential adviser on Overseas Filipino Workers’ (OFWs) concerns.  (Eagle News Service)
