(Eagle News)– The number of  support that Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos earned in the 2016 national polls showed that there’s no more trauma regarding the dictatorship of his strongman father.

This statement was issued by President Rodrigo Duterte to answer questions regarding his go signal to give late President Ferdinand Marcos a hero’s burial at the Heroes’ Cemetery.

Tingnan mo pagtakbo ni Bongbong. Iilan diperensya lang sila, tsaka 200,000. Tapos sabihin ninyo na it’s still fresh? Even Bongbong Marcos was… Sabi niya, dinaya siya. Baka kung hindi siya dinaya, talagang manalo siya,” said Duterte.
“Well, even then I said the number is a very minimal–if it’s indication to you that there is no more such thing as a Marcos trauma just look at the results of the election. It will tell you that… Si [Vice President] Leni [Robredo] is naghabol sila… ” he added.
Duterte dismissed petitioners’ demands, calling their views as mere politics.
“They are contesting kung hero ba si Marcos, wala akong pakialam. Whether hero siya o hindi, pagka sundalo diyan siya. ‘Yung hero hero, pulitika na ‘yan eh,” Duterte explained.
“Bakit pa ako mag-dilly-dally, ibang presidente ayaw? Hero, hero. Hindi hero? Eh ‘di hindi. Sundalo, oo. Kung magaling siya na presidente, it depends. Almost half of the country says that he was a good president,” he insisted.
