The accused in Horacio Castillo III’s death are now in National Bureau of Investigation custody following the issuance of an arrest warrant against them.

NBI deputy director Ferdinand Lavin confirmed that all 10 ordered arrested by Manila Branch 40 Judge Alfredo Ampuan Jr. on Thursday were “picked up” from one place and brought to the NBI on Friday, around 11 a.m.

Mhin Wei Chan, Jose Miguel Salamat, John Robin G. Ramos, Marcelino Bagtang Jr., Arvin Balag, Ralph Trangia, Axel Munro Hipe, Oliver Onofre, Joshua Joriel Macabali and Hans Matthew Rodrigo are now undergoing booking procedures, Lavin said.

Ramos and Salamat have asked Ampuan to inhibit from the case, citing his alleged ties to Dante Jimenez of the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption that assisted Castillo’s parents.

Castillo died from injuries believed sustained from hazing rites conducted by the Aegis Juris fraternity in September last year.
