(Eagle News)–The operational dryrun of Sangley airport in Cavite pushed through on Tuesday, Oct. 29, with the first Cebu Pacific flight arriving on the runway.

This was earlier than the November deadline set by President Rodrigo Duterte, who had ordered for the military air base to commence general aviation and turboprop cargo operations there to decongest the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

The DOTr said the asphalt overlay and clearing of the end of the runway, reblocking of concrete pavement, installation of two pumps as drainage system, ramp construction, site development, landscaping and streetlight installations, among others, have already been completed.

“Finishing works na lamang sa ilang bahagi ang hinihintay upang maging 100% complete na ang Sangley Airport,” the DOTr said.

Apart from Transportation Secretary Art Tugade, Maritime Industry Authority Administrator Narciso Vingson, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board Chair Martin Delgra III, and Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard officials were present during the dryrun.
