Tropical Storm “Perla” remains almost stationary

(Eagle News)–“Perla,” now a tropical storm, remains almost stationary, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

PAGASA said the center of the tropical storm was estimated at 790 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

No tropical cyclone wind signal is in effect over any part of the country but occasional gusty conditions may prevail over Extreme Northern Luzon until early next week due to the prevailing northeasterly surface wind flow, PAGASA said.

The weather bureau said sea travel is risky, especially for small sea vessels, over the seaboards of Northern Luzon due to potentially rough sea conditions associated with the northeasterly surface wind flow.
