Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 hoisted over three areas as TD “Ramon” accelerates

(Eagle News)–Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Number 1 is up over three areas as Tropical Depression “Ramon” slightly accelerates.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the alert is hoisted over Eastern Samar, the eastern portion of Northern Samar and Catanduanes.

PAGASA said the center of Tropical Depression “Ramon” was last spotted 505 kilometers east of Borongan City, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

It is moving  west northwest at 15 kph.

PAGASA said a Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal may be raised over Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon and the rest of Northern Samar with “Ramon” expected to intensify into a tropical storm in 24 hours.

Today, light to moderate with occasional heavy rains may be experienced over Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Albay and Sorsogon, while  light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains are expected over Camarines Norte, Masbate, Northern Samar and Eastern Samar.

Sea travel is risky, especially for small sea craft, over the seaboards of areas under  a storm signal, the seaboards of Northern Luzon, and the eastern seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon due to prevailing or forecast rough sea conditions, PAGASA said.
