Trillanes to Cayetano: It will not happen again

(Eagle News)– Senator Antonio Trillanes  IV on Monday (September 19) has expressed his apologies to Senator Alan Peter Cayetano regarding their Senate hearing clash last week.

“This is to express my apologies for my demeanor during last Thursday’s hearing of the Committee on Justice and Human Rights,” Trillanes said in a letter sent to the office of Cayetano.
“It was brought about because of the intense passion and emotion of the moment. Nonetheless, it was uncalled for. Be assured that such incident will not happen again,” Trillanes added.
Copies of the letter were also sent to the offices of Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III and Senator Leila de Lima.
Trillanes and Cayetano had a heated exchange in last week’s hearing on drug killings.
De Lima had suspended the hearing to cool the tension between the two senators.
However, the two senators were heard continuing their clash.
Trillanes told Cayetano: “Hindi kita papopormahin”, to which the latter replied: “Senador ako, binoto ako ng tao dito, di ba?”
Cayetano tried to butt in upon the resume of the hearing. Trillanes then turned off Cayetano’s microphone.
Senator Pimentel rebuked Trillanes for doing such behavior.
“You do not take the law or the rules into your own hands na ikaw mismo ang papatay ng mic nung tao, yung microphone. Hindi po dapat ginagawa to tsaka syempre you don’t taunt, you don’t heckle your fellow senator.”
