(Eagle News)—Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Monday, Dec. 10, posted bail for the libel cases filed against him.

Trillanes went before Pasay Judge Rowena Nieves Tan to post the P96,000 bail set by Judge Melinda Alconcel-Dayanghirang of Davao City Regional Trial Court Branch 54, or P24000 for each of the four counts of libel filed against him.

The charges were filed by former Davao Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, after he was accused by Trillanes of being behind the P6.4-billion shabu shipment that recently passed the country, and of extorting from ride-sharing firms such as Uber.

Trillanes is currently out on bail for a rebellion case which was revived against him after Proclamation No. 572 revoked the amnesty granted to him for that case and another case of coup d’état.

The cases were in connection with his involvement in the Oakwood mutiny and Peninsula Manila siege in 2003 and 2007, respectively.

Trillanes is slated to leave allegedly for speaking engagements in the United States and parts of Europe, after he was allowed by a court to do the same.
