Three fishermen rescued off Samal Island

Three fishermen floating for nine hours after their boat capsized off Samal Island were rescued by the Philippine Navy.

Lt. James Reyes, Naval forces eastern Mindanao public affairs officer, said the three fishermen were found and rescued at around 6:10 a.m. Tuesday, November 22.

He identified the fishermen as Soy-An Osani, 47; Jamir Osani, 20; and Henry Everre, 17, all residents of barangay Isla Verde, Davao City.

Reyes said the three had just finished loading their catch 10 p.m. Monday, November 21 when a huge wave suddenly hit their banca.

The fishermen spent almost nine hours in the water before being spotted by the patrolling BRP Nicolas Mahusay around 5:35 a.m.

All three fishermen were then taken to naval station Felix Apolinario in Panacan, Davao City for treatment and rest before allowing them to go home. (Eagle News)
