Teresita Ang See bares 11 additional cases of ‘Tokhang for Ransom’

MANILA, Philippines (Eagle News) — Teresita Ang See of the Movement for Restoration of Peace and Order (MRPO) revealed that the case of ‘Tokhang for Ransom’ is not a new thing.  This has happened even before the controversial abduction-slay of  Korean-National Jee-Ick-Joo .

Jee-Ick-Joo was abducted by a group of armed men in Angeles City, Pampanga last year. Suspects demanded P5-million ransom money from Joo’s wife, in exchange for his life.  But the suspects apparently had already killed the Korean national after his abduction.

According to See, the cases were almost the same wherein an alleged group of police from the Camp Crame uses the same strategy as to “Oplan Tokhang.” They will abduct the person and ask members of his family for a certain amount in exchange for his alleged release.  But later on, they will still kill the victim.

MRPO records already noted eleven cases of “Tokhang for Ransom” in Metro Manila alone.

Oftentimes, their usual victims are the Chinese and Korean nationals who do business in the Philippines.
