TD “Usman” to make landfall over E. Samar on Saturday, Dec. 29

(Eagle News)–“Usman” is now expected to make landfall over Eastern Samar in the morning of Saturday, Dec. 29, as the tropical depression continued to move westward at a slow pace.

In its 5 a.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said as of 4 a.m., the center of “Usman” was located 65 kilometers east of Guiuan, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 65 kilometers per hour.

It is moving at 15 kilometers per hour.

Signal No. 1 has been hoisted over Northern Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo Group of Islands, southern Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate including Burias and Ticao Islands, southern Occidental Mindoro and southern Oriental Mindoro, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, southern Leyte, northern Cebu including Camotes Islands, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, Antique, northern Negros Occidental and Dinagat Islands.

PAGASA said moderate to heavy rains will prevail over Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region and Aurora, while light to moderate to at times heavy rains are expected over Metro Manila and Visayas.

Fisherfolk and those with small seacraft are advised not to venture out into the seaboards of the areas under Signal No. 1, seaboards of northern Luzon, the eastern seaboards of central and southern Luzon, and the eastern seaboard of Surigao provinces due to “Usman” and the surge of the northeast monsoon.
