(Eagle News)–Tropical Depression “Perla” has maintained its strength as it moved in a northern direction slowly.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the center of “Perla” was estimated at 830 kilometers east northeast of Aparri, Cagayan or 780 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.
No tropical cyclone wind signal is in effect over any part of the country but “Perla” may bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over Batanes, Cagayan (including Babuyan Islands) and Apayao beginning Saturday or Sunday.
PAGASA said sea travel is also risky, especially for small sea vessels, over the seaboards of Northern Luzon due to “potentially rough sea conditions associated with the northeasterly surface windflow.”
“Perla”is less likely to intensify into a Tropical Storm but this possibility is not ruled out.
