TD “Nimfa” maintains strength as it moves slowly over Philippine Sea

(Eagle News)–Tropical Depression “Nimfa” has maintained its strength as it moved slowly over the Philippine Sea.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said  the center of Tropical Depression “Nimfa” was estimated at 685 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes, packing .maximum winds of up to 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

It is moving west northwest slowly.

PAGASA said the Low Pressure Area  estimated in the vicinity of Mayantoc, Tarlac may cross over Central Luzon and may eventually dissipate within the circulation of “Nimfa”.

Until this evening, frequent light to moderate rains with occasional heavy rain showers during thunderstorms will be experienced over Central Luzon, Batangas, Cavite, Occidental Mindoro, and northern portions of Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo Islands.

Cloudy skies with scattered light to moderate rains and intermittent heavy rainshowers during thunderstorms will prevail of Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, and Western Visayas, PAGASA said.

Sea travel is risky, especially for small seacraft, over the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon due to “potentially rough to very rough sea conditions.”

Most of the other seaboards of the country will have moderate to rough conditions, PAGASA said.
