TD “Ineng” maintains strength as it moves in northwest direction

(Eagle News)–Tropical Depression “Ineng” has maintained its strength as it moved in a northwest direction on Wednesday, Aug. 21.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said as of 10 a.m., the center of the tropical depression was located 1,155 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon.

It is packing maximum sustained winds of up to 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kilometers per hour, and is moving slowly.

“Ineng,” however, is less likely to make landfall in PAR, but may develop into a tropical storm in the next 24 hours.

PAGASA said the outer rainbands of “Ineng” will bring light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains over Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas.

The southwest monsoon, on the other hand, will bring light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains over MIMAROPA and rest of Visayas.

The weather bureau said the trough of a shallow Low Pressure Area  off the southwestern coast of Taiwan outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility will bring light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains over Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands.
