4.4-magnitude earthquake strikes off Occidental Mindoro

(Eagle News)–A 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck off Occidental Mindoro on Sunday, March 20. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the quake, which was an aftershock of the 6.4-magnitude earthquake that hit the province in Lubang on March 14, struck at 1:58 p.m. The epicenter was 72 kilometers northwest of Lubang. The depth of focus was one kilometer. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

PHIVOLCS: 12 quakes monitored at Taal

(Eagle News) — Twelve earthquakes have been monitored at Taal in 24 hours. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the earthquakes at the volcano, which remains on alert level 2, included four volcanic tremors two to three minutes long. 4.0-magnitude earthquake strikes off Occidental Mindoro

(Eagle News) — A 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck off Occidental Mindoro on Thursday, March 17. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the quake, which hit at 8:51 a.m., was an aftershock of the 6.4-magnitude earthquake that struck Lubang on March 14. The epicenter was 120 kilometers northwest of Lubang. The earthquake’s depth of focus, PHIVOLCS said, is 30 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

4.3-magnitude quake strikes off Occidental Mindoro

(Eagle News) — A 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck off Occidental Mindoro on Tuesday, March 15. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the quake hit 103 kilometers northwest of Lubang. PHIVOLCS said the earthquake was an aftershock of the 6.4-magnitude earthquake reported in Lubang the day before. Tuesday’s earthquake had a depth of focus of 33 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.  

4.0-magnitude quake strikes off Davao Occidental early Sunday

(Eagle News)–A 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental on Sunday, March 13. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the quake hit at 6:10 a.m. The epicenter was 202 kilometers southeast of Sarangani. The depth of focus was 34 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.  

5.6-magnitude quake strikes off Davao Occidental early Tuesday, March 8

(Eagle News) — A 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental early Tuesday, March 8. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the quake hit at 2:13 a.m. Its epicenter was 278 kilometers southeast of Balut Island. The depth of focus was 115 kilometers. According to PHIVOLCS, the quake was tectonic in origin. No damage to property was reported but aftershocks were.

4.0-magnitude quake strikes off Davao Oriental

(Eagle News) — A 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Oriental early Monday, March 7. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the quake hit at 3:09 am. It had its epicenter 80 kilometers southeast of Tarragona. The depth of focus was nine kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.

PHIVOLCS: No tsunami threat to PHL following strong quake off New Zealand

(Eagle News) — There is no tsunami threat to the Philippines. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology issued the advisory after a strong earthquake struck off New Zealand. The earthquake’s magnitude was pegged at 6.6 initially but this was later revised to 6.4. According to PHIVOLCS, the approximate distance of the event from Manila was 8266 kilometers. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the quake hit at 7:21 a.m. The quake struck 327 kilometers southeast of Balut Island. The depth of focus was 96 kilometers. No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported.
