Justice Undersecretary Markk Perete said Duty Officer Edgardo Ferrer sustained a “superficial stab wound on his lower abdominal” after he was attacked by the inmate who was suffering from schizophrenia at 8:40 a.m. The inmate was not identified. Perete said Ferrer has been given “commensurate medical care.”
