Chinese President Xi Jinping arrives in Vietnam for APEC summit

DANANG, Vietnam (Reuters) — Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Vietnam for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit on Friday (November 10). Xi will meet other leaders including Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday in the Vietnamese seaside resort of Danang. Agreement over the leaders’ statement is likely to prove one of the major sticking points of the summit due to the increasingly protectionist stance of the US.

Canada PM arrives in Danang for APEC summit

DANANG, Vietnam (Reuters) — Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau arrived in Vietnam for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit on Friday (November 10). Trudeau and other APEC leaders, including President Xi Jinping of China and U.S. President Donald Trump, will meet later on Friday in the Vietnamese seaside resort of Danang. Trudeau will also be focusing on negotiations for the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) free trade deal on the sidelines of the summit.

President Duterte asks DFA to monitor Filipinos after New Zealand quake

QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte asked the Department of Foreign Affairs, especially the country’s embassy officials in Wellington, New Zealand, to closely monitor the status of Filipinos in the country after a magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit New Zealand.
