SWS: Duterte’s net satisfaction rating rises; 79 percent of Filipinos satisfied with his performance

(Eagle News) — Seventy-nine percent of Filipinos are satisfied with President Rodrigo Duterte’s performance, based on a recent Social Weather Stations survey.

According to the survey conducted from March 28 to 31, the 79 percent was a five-point increase from the rating recorded in December last year, and translates to a net satisfaction rating of +66, up by 6 points from the very good +60 in December.

It also  ties his personal high set in June 2017, the SWS said.

Based on the survey, the increase in Duterte’s net satisfaction rating was due to increases in such across geographical areas.

The SWS said there were increases of 15 points in Mindanao, 7 points in the Visayas, 4 points in Balance Luzon, and 3 points in Metro Manila in the net satisfaction rating of President Duterte.

Rural net satisfaction with President Duterte was also up by 12 points from the +57 in December last year, with 81 percent satisfied.

Urban net satisfaction also stayed at very good, at +62 with 77% satisfied, although this was down by 2 points from the +64 in December.

Up in classes ABC and D

President Duterte’s net satisfaction rating was at a new record-high +69 among members of class ABC,  up by 7 points from the +62 in December 2018.

The SWS said this surpassed the previous record of +66 in December 2017 and June 2018.

Among members of Class D, net satisfaction rating of Duterte also rose by 10 points at +68, a new record-high that surpassed the previous record of +66 in June 2017.

Although down by seven points from the December rating, net satisfaction rating among members of Class E was still a very good, at +58.

Up among both men and women

Duterte’s net satisfaction rating also increased by five points among men, from the +63 recorded in December, with 81 percent satisfied.

It also increased among women, at +65, up by 8 points from the +57 in December.

Up in all age groups

The President’s net satisfaction rating rose by one grade–from very good to excellent— among 18-24 year-olds, at +70, up by 8 points from the +62 in December 2018.

According to the SWS, this ties the record-high +70 set in December 2016 for this age group.

Duterte’s net satisfaction rating also rose from very good to excellent among 35-44-year-olds, at +70, up by 8 points from +62 in December.

It stayed at very good among 45-54 year-olds, at a new record-high +68, up by 16 points from the +52 in December last year, and surpassing the previous record of +65 in December 2016.

His net satisfaction rating stayed at very good among 25-34-year-olds, at +66, up by 2 points from the +64  in December.

It also stayed at very good among those 55 years old and older, at +61, up by 2 points from the +59  in December.

Up in all educational levels

President Duterte’s net satisfaction rating rose by one grade from very good to excellent among college graduates, at +74, up by 9 points from the +65 in December 2018.

It also rose from very good to excellent among non-elementary school graduates, at a new record-high +71, up by 13 points from the +58 in December last year.

“This surpassed the previous record of +68 in June 2017,” the SWS said.

Duterte’s net satisfaction rating stayed at very good among high school graduates, at +67, up by 5 points from the +62 in December.

It also stayed at very good among elementary school graduates, at +60, up by 4 points from the +56 six months ago.

The survey used face-to-face interviews of 1,440 adults (18 years old and above) nationwide: 360 each in Balance Luzon, Metro Manila, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Sampling error margins were pegged at ±2.6% for national percentages, and ±5% each for Balance Luzon, Metro Manila, Visayas, and Mindanao.
