Still more COVID-19 recoveries than deaths; COVID-19 cases in PHL rise to 5660

(Eagle News) — The Department of Health on Thursday, April 16, reported 82 more coronavirus disease 2019 recoveries, even as it reported an increase to 5660 in the COVID-19 cases in the country.

In its 4 p.m. update, the DOH said the 82 additional recoveries brought the total to 435, more than the 362 COVID-19 deaths reported so far.

The 362 deaths, the DOH said, includes the 13 recently added deaths.

This is the second day in a row the DOH has reported more COVID-19 recoveries than deaths.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said earlier in the day, however, that the Philippines had yet to flatten the COVID-19 curve, judging by the continued rise in cases.

He said the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases was still studying whether or not to lift the enhanced community quarantine on April 30, as scheduled.

The Luzon-wide ECQ was imposed by President Rodrigo Duterte in a bid to arrest the spread of COVID-19.
