South Africa wins Miss Universe 2017 pageant

(Eagle News) — South Africa’s Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was crowned Miss Universe 2017 on Monday.

Miss Colombia was first runner-up, and Miss Jamaica second runner-up.

France’s Iris Mittenaere turned over her crown to Nel-Peters, a a graduate of Business Management at North West University, after her one-year stint.

The last South African to be crowned Miss Universe was Margaret Gardiner in 1978.
