Two of four individuals who have been cited in contempt by the Senate blue ribbon panel for skipping hearings on the missing P11-billion shabu shipment are now in Senate custody.

The Office of Senator Richard Gordon, who chairs the panel, identified them as SMYD Trading owner Marina Signapan and Emily Laquingan.

Laquingan, said to be the former wife of Hsu Chun Chung, the alleged liaison of the drug syndicate behind the drug shipment, surrendered to Gordon earlier in the day.

She was brought to the Senate clinic for a check-up prior to detention.

Signapan, on the other hand, surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation on Monday, Nov. 26.

The NBI later turned her over to the Senate.

Last week, Gordon cited Signapan, Laquingan, dismissed police officer Eduardo Acierto and sacked Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Deputy Director General for Administration Ismael Fajardo in contempt for not showing up despite them being given notices to appear.

“We are now going to issue contempt orders so that we can get these people back here,” Gordon had said.
