Signal No. 1 hoisted over several areas as “Kiko” maintains strength

(Eagle News) — Signal No. 1 has been hoisted over several areas in northern Luzon as Tropical Depression “Kiko” maintained its strength on Monday evening.

In its recent bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services said the signal was now over the Babuyan Group of Islands, Batanes, Ilocos Norte and Apayao.

Sea travel is cancelled in these areas as rains are expected.

Pagasa said the center of “Kiko” was now estimated at 355 kilometers north northeast of Virac, Catanduanes.

It is now moving faster–at 17 kilometers per hour–and is expected to follow a west northwest track.

It is packing 55 kph winds near the center and gusts of up to 65 kph.
