Several areas in five Malabon barangays to be placed under localized lockdown starting Thursday, July 16

(Eagle News)–Several areas in some barangays in Malabon will be placed under a 15-day lockdown starting Thursday, July 16.

The Malabon government said the localized lockdown in parts of  P. Concepcion and Tumariz in Brgy. Tugatog; University Avenue Extension and Guava Street in Brgy. Potrero; 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th Street and C4 Road in Brgy. Tañong; Gozon Letre and Phase 1 in Brgy. Tonsuya; and Block 14 A and Block 14 C in Brgy. Longos will end on July 30.

The local government did not say why the localized lockdown was being done but said it was approved by the Malabon Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.

As of July 14, Barangays Tonsuya, Potrero, Longos, Tugatog and Catmon are among the barangays in Malabon with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

“Mahigpit na ipagbabawal ang paglabas ng mga residente sa kanilang tahanan sa mga naturang lugar, maliban sa mga Authorized Persons Outside Residence o APOR tulad ng mga medical at healthworkers, at iba pang essential workers,” the local government said.

It said it would coordinate with the Philippine National Police, barangay officials, and volunteers to ensure all  safety protocols in those areas are followed.

Barangay officials are in charge of providing for the needs of the residents in the affected areas.

As of July 14, Malabon has 936 cases, after 54 new ones were added on that day.

Of the 936, 495 are active cases.
