Sereno returns P5-million Land Cruiser to Supreme Court

(Eagle News) — Ousted Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno has returned her P5-million service vehicle to the Supreme Court.

Sereno made the move days after the Supreme Court upheld its May 11 decision to nullify her appointment as Chief Justice.

Lawyer Larry Gadon told Sereno off for what he said was the high cost of the vehicle, among other things, and filed an impeachment complaint against her on the basis of these allegations.

Some of the allegations, including the purchase of the Land Cruiser, formed part of the Articles of Impeachment filed against Sereno.

Sereno, however, was removed by the SC when it granted the quo warranto petition filed against her even before the articles could be voted on in the House plenary.

The quo warranto petition alleged Sereno’s appointment as Chief Justice should be nullified because she lacked the integrity required of Chief Justice post applicants in the first place when she did not file her Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth as a law professor in the University of the Philippines Diliman.
