Senators approve Zubiri motion to make public Solano’s testimony during Sept. 25 executive session

(Eagle News) — Senators on Wednesday granted  Juan Miguel Zubiri’s motion to release the testimony of John Paul Solano during a Sept. 25 executive session with senators.

Zubiri made the motion  after Lacson, chair of the joint hearing of the committees of dangerous drugs and public order, and justice, disclosed that Solano had sent a letter to the body, dated Oct. 18, appealing that the senators reconsider their adopted resolution allowing for the public release of his testimony.

“I think you were prevailed upon by your brothers. Let’s no longer allow the disrespect of this committee. I move to release the testimony of Mr Solano he gave during executive session approved by 21 members of (the body),” Zubiri said, noting that two preliminary investigations had already transpired without him making the submission, as he promised during the executive session.

Prior to this, Solano insisted that the non-release of his affidavit was “beyond his control.”

He noted that he was supposed to submit the same on Oct. 4, but the “complainants manifested they would submit a supplemental affidavit.”

“They prayed for the hearing to be moved. I did not file my counteraffidavit due to the fact they would add a supplemental complaint,” Solano said.

“I’m still begging you give some time. After the 24, I will file my counteraffidavit, I will furnish you a copy,” he said.
