Senate eyes submitting national budget to Duterte for signing before the end of the year

(Eagle News)–The Senate is targeting to submit the national budget for 2020 to President Rodrigo Duterte before the end of the year.

This is according to Senator Sonny Angara, chair of the Senate finance panel, who announced the receipt of the P4.1-trillion General Appropriations Bill from the House of Representatives.

According to Angara, so far, the Senate  finance subcommittees are completing the hearings on the proposed budgets of the last few agencies.

“During the break, we will be consolidating all of the submissions into the committee report and once we resume sessions, we will be ready to sponsor the bill in plenary,” he said, noting that the target was by November 4, upon resumption of session.

“The Senate will work overtime to approve this most important piece of legislation..,” he said. Meanne Corvera
