This is the second day of rescue operations conducted by the SCAN International in Bulacan South, for victims in flooded areas of Calumpit, Bulacan.
Even before the area became flooded, SCAN International anticipated the floods in Calumpit and prepared for the rescue operations ahead.
Others were rescued from their rooftops and some of them were given food packs and bottled water. This is part of the Lingap sa Mamayan of the Iglesia Ni Cristo.
SCAN conducted operations in Calumpit areas of Caniogan, Balungao,Gatbuca, Iba Weste, Bulusan,Panducot,Sta. Lucia, Sapang Bayan and Calizon.
The floodwaters rose on Wednesday night because the high tide came in when the flood waters from areas above in Nueva Ccija cascaded down at the same time.
On Thursday morning, October 22 members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo brought food to SCAN workers working in evacuation sites in the dike area in Apalit and Pangbayan.
The bags of relief goods were being replenished by the trucks that kept coming in. (Eagle News Service)
