(Eagle News)–Retired Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin is getting death threats, Supreme Court spokesperson Brian Hosaka said on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
Hosaka said he learned about the death threats yesterday when he briefly talked to the former Chief Justice just before the ceremony for his Doctors of Law conferment by the University of the East.
“He was his normal self confident self. I guess coming from a political family, they have encountered this scenario before and they would know how to handle it,” he said.
He said the SC was providing Bersamin with security personnel, refusing to elaborate.
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra for his part said they were willing to help.
“If former CJ bersamin needs protection from the NBI, or he wants to investigate where the threat is coming from, we will help,” he said.
