SC associate justice denies giving info on allegedly tampered draft TRO to reporter

(Eagle News) — Supreme Court Associate Justice Teresita de Castro on Wednesday denied she had given a Manila Times reporter any information about a draft temporary restraining order which was allegedly tampered by Supreme Court Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno.

“I have never released to Jomar Canlas any information, report, or document regarding the work of the Court,” De Castro said in a brief statement sent through SC Spokesperson Theodore Te.

De Castro issued the statement after Larry Gadon, who filed the impeachment complaint against Sereno, said he got the information from the alleged tampering of the draft TRO from Canlas.

Gadon said Canlas told him he got the information from De Castro herself.

The alleged tampering of the draft TRO penned by De Castro is one of 27 acts Gadon says Sereno committed, acts which he said were tantamount to culpable violation of the Constitution, corruption, other high crimes and betrayal of public trust.

The House justice committee is currently holding hearings for determination of probable cause.
