(Eagle News) — “Ramon” has weakened into a tropical depression as it moved over the Isabela area, but “Sarah” is now a tropical storm.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur, western portion of Isabela (Quezon, Mallig, Quirino, Roxas, San Manuel, Burgos, Aurora, Reina Mercedes, Luna, Cabatuan, San Mateo, Cauayan, Ramon, Alicia, Angadanan, San Isidro, Santiago and Cordon), Mountain Province, Benguet, Ifugao, La Union, Pangasinan are under Signal No. 1 as “Ramon,” last spotted in the vicinity of Roxas, packed maximum sustained winds of up to 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
“Ramon” is moving south southwest at 20 kph.
Signal No. 1 is also hoisted over the eastern portion of Cagayan (Calayan,Aparri,Baggao,Alcala,Gattaran,Lal-lo,Tuguegarao City,Penablanca,Iguig,Amulung,Santa Teresita,Camalaniugan,Santa Ana,Gonzaga,Buguey,Ballesteros and Calayan) and northeastern portion of Isabela (Divilacan,Tumauini,Cabagan,Maconacon and San Pablo) as “Sarah,” estimated 715 km east northeast of Infanta, Quezon or 640 km east of Casiguran, Aurora, packed maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
“Sarah” is moving north northwest at 20 kph.
PAGASA said strong to gale force winds may be experienced over Batanes and Babuyan Islands due to the surge of the northeast monsoon.
Light to moderate with occasional heavy rains are expected over Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Apayao, and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte.
Light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains, on the other hand, are forecast over Ilocos Sur, Abra, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Isabela, La Union, Benguet and the rest of Ilocos Norte.
Sea travel is risky, especially for small sea craft, over the seaboards of areas under a storm signal, as well as the seaboards of Camarines Norte and Catanduanes, the eastern seaboards of northern Aurora and Isabela, the western seaboards of Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro and Palawan, and the northern seaboard of Camarines Sur.
PAGASA said this was due to the prevailing or forecast rough sea conditions caused by “Ramon”, “Sarah” and the northeast monsoon.
