Sandiganbayan finds former Isabela Gov. Grace Padaca guilty of graft, malversation

(Eagle News) — The Sandiganbayan has convicted former Isabela governor Grace Padaca of malversation and graft.

Padaca was sentenced to 12 to 14 years in prison for malversation, and six to ten years in prison for graft.

She was also ordered to pay the Isabela government P18 million.

The charges filed against her stem from a P25-million contract granted to Economic Development for Western Isabela and Northern Luzon Foundation, Inc. (EDWINLFI) for the province’s rice program.

The prosecution said the memorandum of agreement between the provincial government and EDWINLFI had not been approved by the provincial board.
