Sandiganbayan approves Jinggoy Estrada’s travel bid to US

(Eagle News) — The Sandiganbayan has allowed former Senator Jinggoy Estrada to go on a 31-day trip to the United States.

The Fifth Division approved Estrada’s motion to travel from April 30 to May 30 in open court on Monday.

In his motion, Estrada had asked that he be allowed to travel from April 21 to May 31 as he had accepted to become  guest speaker of the US Pinoy for Good Governance (USP4GG) annual general membership meeting in Michigan on May 20.

He said he also had a scheduled medical consultation with an orthopedic surgeon in California, and had promised his son, who graduated on March 17, that they would go on vacation.

Estrada, who is out on bail, is facing plunder and graft cases for allegedly pocketing P183.8 million in kickbacks from his pork barrel through Janet Lim Napoles’ fake non-government organizations.
