Security at the Asian Hospital in Alabang, Muntinlupa was tight as Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., visited his son, Cavite Vice-Governor Jolo Revilla who accidentally shot himself while cleaning his Goc 40 caliber pistol at his home.

Sen. Revilla was allowed by the Sandiganbayan to visit his son Tuesday, March 3, at the hospital for only five hours – from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

According to Atty. Raymond Fortun, the spokesperson of the Revilla family, the meeting between father and son became emotional. He said Jolo asked for forgiveness from his father.

Fortun recounted what happened during the visit:  “Nakita niya anak niya nakahiga.  Niyakap ni Senator si Jolo.  Sabi ng bata,  ‘Sorry Papa,  I’m sorry.’  Sagot ni Revilla, it’s okay anak, we have to be strong.”

Fortun said doctors have observed that Jolo’s condition is not yet stable.  There are complications which had arisen because of the accident.

The injury suffered by Jolo’s lung tissues had led to a complication known as pneumothorax in Jolo’s left lung.

“Pneumothorax means may air na nag-dedevelop sa pural cavity ng kanyang katawan, cause ng injury sa lung tissue nya. Developing pneumonia ang air na nade-develop,” Fortun explained to reporters.

Fortun said Sen. Revilla would have wanted to visit his son for a few more days.
