
(Eagle News) — Another storm is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility, even as Tropical Depression “Samuel” is slated to leave PAR on Thursday night.
In a press conference, Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration weather specialist Benison Estareja said Severe Tropical Storm Man-Yi is expected to enter PAR either on Sunday or on Monday.
Once it enters PAR, it will be called Tomas.
According to Estareja, as of 8 a.m. the center of Man-Yi is located 1790 kilometers east of Mindanao, packing maximum sustained winds of 105 kilometers per hour, and gustiness of up to 130 kilometers per hour.
Man-Yi is moving west northwest at 45 kilometers per hour.
Meanwhile, all storm signals have been lifted as Tropical Depression “Samuel” prepares to leave PAR on Thursday night.
As of 10a.m., the center of “Samuel” was located 240 kilometers west northwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kilometers per hour.
It is moving west at 30 kilometers per hour.
“Fisherfolk and those with small seacraft are still advised not to venture out over the northern and western seaboards of Luzon,” PAGASA said.
