QUEZON City, Philippines – Incoming Philippine National Police Chief Supt. Ronald dela Rosa is confident that the problem of “kotong” cops will be solved by increasing the salary of the police.
Dela Rosa said that members of the PNP will think twice about extorting money from the public (kotong in local parlance) especially if those who will be reported to be engaged in such activity will be summarily terminated.
Senator Alan Peter Cayetano recommended to incoming President Rodrigo Duterte that the salary of a Police Officer 1 should also be increased to Php 51, 000. The increase will be sourced from the extra collection of the Bureau of Customs (BOC).
