SACRAMENTO, CA (Eagle News) -Sacramento State hosted its first ever TEDx event, TEDxCSUS, on Friday, November 17th. TEDx is an independently organized TED event with a program organized by the local community where people can share “Ideas Worth Spreading”. The theme of the TEDx event at Sacramento State was “Boomerang”.

TEDxCSUS featured speakers from the Sacramento area as well as people from different parts of the world to talk about how they impacted and influenced their communities. Their influence is like a boomerang, which get thrown out and come back. By tossing their influence into their community, the hope is that the speakers comes back to Sacramento to inspire us and Sacramento residents, in return, toss their own boomerang out to the world.

TEDxCSUS featured speakers such as Charleton Churchill, an adventure wedding photographer, who is the first photographer to shoot a wedding on top of Mount Everest. His work can be found on very popular magazines and televisions hows such as Vogue, ESPN, and the Today Show. Churchill taught the audience the importance of investing in your dreams to make them a reality.

John Davidson, the Head of Partnerships, eSports and Influencer Marketing for GameStop, also spoke about how our failures and successes are closely related.

Paul Coccovillo, the Controller of the Consumer Hardware Group at Facebook, spoke about how virtual reality isn’t just technology used for video games but this is technology that can all the more make us feel more connected to our family members and friends across the world
