(Eagle News)—Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on Tuesday, Sept. 11, tagged the Magdalo group led by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV as behind a supposed ouster plot against President Rodrigo Duterte
“Itong grupong Magdalo, talaga namang ito ‘yung kanilang hobby, magpatalsik ng gobyerno bagama’t hindi naman sila nagwawagi,” he said in an interview.
Earlier, Roque said also involved in the plot were the Liberal Party and Communist rebels.
Roque denied the ouster claims were mere attempts to distract the people from the country’s problems, saying it was “not surprising” the three groups would conspire to exert concerted efforts to remove Duterte as president.
He said there were for instance “many” LP members who could not move on from their loss in the 2016 elections.
He also noted that although there were issues, the country was on the right track to progress.
