(Eagle News)—Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Rodel Batocabe was killed in an attack on Saturday, Dec. 22.
Also killed in the gun attack in Daraga, Albay was his bodyguard identified as SP01 Orlando Diaz.
A radio report said Batocabe, also the vice chair of the House committees on dangerous drugs; on natural resources; and on good government and public accountability, was about to board his vehicle after attending a gift-giving event in Barangay Burgos when the attack took place at 3 p.m.
He and his bodyguard were dead on arrival at the hospital.
Chief Inspector Malou Calubacib, head of the public information office of the Bicol Regional Police, said in an interview over radio dzbb that it was still unclear how many assailants there were.
“Ang nakita kong prominent na entry wound sa kaniya ay sa dibdib,” Ako Bicol Rep. Alfredo Garbin said in another radio interview.
Authorities are still investigating the incident.
