(Eagle News)–“Ramon,” now a typhoon, remains stationary as it approaches the Babuyan Islands.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Signal No. 3 remains hoisted over the northern portion of Cagayan (Santa Praxedes, Claveria, Sanchez Mira, Pamplona, Abulug, Ballesteros, Aparri, Calayan, Camalaniugan, Buguey, Santa Teresita, Gonzaga, and Santa Ana).
Signal No. 2, on the other hand, is up over Batanes, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and the rest of Cagayan, while the northern portion of Isabela (Sta. Maria, San Pablo, Maconacon, Cabagan, Sto. Tomas, Quezon, Delfin Albano, Tumauini, Divilacan, Quirino, Roxas, Mallig, San Manuel, Burgos, Gamu and Ilagan City), Mountain Province, Benguet, Ifugao, La Union, Pangasinan are under a Signal No. 1.
“Ramon” is forecast to make landfall over the Babuyan Islands between the afternoon and evening today.
Due to the land interaction and the northeast monsoon, PAGASA said the typhoon is forecast to weaken following landfall.
The low pressure area estimated 670 km east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar, on the other hand, is expected to develop into a Tropical Depression within 12 hours.
PAGASA said moderate with frequent heavy rains over Batanes, the northern portion of Cagayan including the Babuyan Islands, Apayao and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte are expected.
Light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains over the northern portion of Isabela, Kalinga, Abra and the rest of Cagayan and Ilocos Sur are also forecast.
Sea travel is risky, especially for small sea craft, over the seaboards of areas under storm signals, the seaboard of southern Isabela, and the western seaboard of Zambales and Bataan due to prevailing or forecast rough sea conditions.
